How to communicate in Evermore
There are three ways to communicate in Evermore.
The main form of communication is local, which means that only those players (and NPCs!) that are standing in the same place as you can hear and see you. You can interact using non-verbal gestures and actions as well as verbally to one person or a crowd. For example, standing beside Meister you can try 'grin meister' and 'say Hello!'. For more information in-game, check 'help say'.
Then using the command 'tell' you can communicate with individual players who are not at the same location as yourself. An example would be 'tell meister I need help'.
The third way to communicate, which at first is the most important to know about, are the channels. All players, who are listening to the same channel, no matter where they are in Evermore, can hear the messages sent to that channel, i.e. these channels are for global communication. New players are automatically enlisted in channel 'New Player'. Try 'chat new Hi'. For more detailed infomation, read 'help chat' and 'help channel'. Communication on these global channels is considered out of character.
I fyou make use of all of the ways to communicate, you will have a much richer mud life. However, you should be aware that communication with others is virtually impossible if you do not speak their language. There are six primary languages in the world and some older, rarer ones too. Be sure, when talking with others, that they understand the language you are speaking.

In addition, you can also send letters to each other using a post office or write a note to one of the numerous boards in Evermore.
